ABSTRACT
This study was performed to evaluate how the respiratory functions of the euthyrold nodular goiter patients who have not had symptoms of respiratory tract obstructions, are affected from the thyroidectomy operations. The respiratory function tests were done to these patients before and after surgery. lt was determined that there was definite improvement in peak expiratory flow rate (PEF) (p<0,001), and less significant improvement In forced vital capacity(FVC) and timed forced expiratory volume (FEV1) (p<0,05).The positive changes in FEF25, FEF50, FEF75 and FEF25-75 tests were not statistically significant. lt was understood that the patients' respiratory functions were not affected negatively from the thyroidectomy operations performed due to euthyroid nodular goiters. Compared with preoperative period it was seen that the respiratory functions were improved after surgery.
